Camembert Cheese by Prestige

I had no such exposure to cheese making in my life or received any proper education on how to eat cheese properly.

All my life, eating cheese is as eating the same old sliced cheddar cheese from Kraft.

But today...after 28 years, I had this sudden urge to try something new.

My first Camembert Cheese.
Brand is Prestige and made by GmbH &Co.KG a company from Bavaria, Germany.
I bought this from Foreign Market in Itaewon, South Korea for 4,700won.

The cheese was double wrapped in a blue plastic wrapper
and another one in an aluminium foil to keep it fresh longer.

Net Wt. 125g e.50% fat i.d.m
Soft ripened cheese made from pasteurized cow's milk.
Additional ingredients: lactic bacterial culture, salt, non-animal rennet, p.candidum.
Special pasteurized.
Refrigerate at max +8 Celsius.

Based on Wikipedia, Camembert Cheese originated from France.
"Camembert (French pronunciation: [ka.mɑ̃.bɛʁ]) is a soft, creamy, surface-ripened cow's milk cheese. It was first made in the late 18th century at CamembertNormandy in northern France."

Jamie Oliver has a nice recipe on Beautiful baked Camembert.
I'm dying to try that, one day...if I'm fortunate enough to have an oven and even a kitchen to tryout his marvelous recipe.

ifood.tv has a pretty neat article on 'How to eat Camembert' and based from this idea, I had mine with fresh strawberry that I bought from a local market in Sinchon, South Korea.

My humble opinion: I love this cheese..maybe I might change my mind after trying some other cheese out there but I love the airy, light and creamy taste Camembert cheese brings. Eating it alone has no impact on my tounge although it is salted. The first thought that came to my mind was the nutty feeling it gave due to the rind (whitish stuff covering the cheese). Eating the cheese without eating the rind is not recommended. I love the rind and that's what makes Camembert cheese unique!
